Introducing Support for Google AI Mode, Gemini & Copilot - Otterly.AI Blog - Best AI Search Monitoring Solution

OtterlyAI Now Supports Google AI Mode, Copilot & Gemini: Complete AI Search Visibility Across Six Platforms

The AI search evolution isn’t coming – it’s here. And if you’re not monitoring your brand across all AI platforms, you’re already behind.

While traditional SEO professionals debate the future of search engine optimization, a seismic shift is happening right under their noses.

Gartner predicts a staggering 50% decline in organic search traffic by 2028, driven by the explosive growth of AI-powered search experiences. This isn’t a distant threat – it’s today’s reality. According to recent industry research, 68% of organizations are already shifting their strategies to accommodate AI search, while an estimated 13 million Americans have adopted generative AI as their preferred search engine, with projections exceeding 90 million users by 2027.

From Three to Six: Supporting AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot as Additional AI Search Engines

When OtterlyAI started, we focused on three major AI search platforms that were changing how people find information: ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. Each platform introduced a different way to search and present information.

  • ChatGPT made conversational AI search popular, letting people ask questions in everyday language and get detailed, relevant answers.
  • Perplexity changed the game by combining AI reasoning with live web searches, making it great for getting up-to-date information.
  • Google AI Overviews added AI-generated summaries directly into regular search results, blending traditional search with helpful, AI-powered insights.

But the world of AI search has changed incredibly fast. In 2025, several big developments shook things up: Google launched AI Mode in March in the U.S. and in July in UK, Microsoft introduced Copilot Search in April, and Google Gemini grew into a powerful search platform. These weren’t just small improvements—they completely changed how AI systems handle and share information.

Google AI Mode: The Future of Search

Google AI Mode is one of the biggest changes in search technology since Google launched PageRank.

Announced in March 2025 and rolled out to U.S. users by May 2025, AI Mode transforms Google Search from just a way to find links into an interactive, AI-powered conversation tool. It competes with dedicated chatbots while still using Google’s vast collection of information (source).

The core of AI Mode is a customized version of Gemini 2.5 Pro.

Six Platforms, One Dashboard: The OtterlyAI Advantage

The move to include six AI search platforms is more than just adding new features – it makes OtterlyAI the go-to tool for tracking AI search engines in depth. Monitoring all six major platforms is important because each one processes and displays information in its own unique way.

These differences create unique chances for brands to stand out and make an impact. If you ignore even one platform, you risk losing valuable insights into how your brand is seen and talked about in various AI-driven settings.

Here’s an overview on which AI Search Engine is currently support by OtterlyAI in which country.

Google’s Three AI Search Engines: AI Mode, Gemini and AI Overviews

Let’s take a moment to discuss Google’s three AI search engines and what sets them apart.

You might be asking yourself, “Why should I keep track of AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Gemini simultaneously? Aren’t they essentially delivering the same results since they’re all powered by Google’s Gemini language model?

While it’s true that all three search engines are owned by Google and rely on the Gemini LLM, they currently generate distinct results in their AI-driven answers.

In other words, when using these AI Search Engines, you’ll notice differences in the brands they highlight, the recommendations they provide, and the websites they cite—even when you enter the same query.

Why is that?

Google has developed a unique version of the Gemini model for each search engine, and the additional context provided by each platform varies slightly. This customization results in notable differences in their output.

Case Study: Comparing Adidas Across AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Gemini

Overview

  • Region: United States
  • Timeframe: Last 30 days (June–July 2025)
  • Methodology: Analyzed 30 identical search prompts across AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Gemini.

We specifically examined how Adidas and adidas.com performed across all three platforms to answer the following questions:

  • Does Adidas achieve the same level of brand visibility across AI Mode, AI Overviews, and Gemini?
  • Is adidas.com cited in a consistent or comparable manner across these search engines?

Findings

Although the overall Brand Share of Voice for Adidas appears relatively consistent across the three engines, there are significant differences in how often adidas.com is cited on each platform.

Citation Deep Dive: Patterns in Top Cited Websites across AI Search Engines

  • AI Mode is heavily citing runrepeat.com (146), adidas.com (133), while Gemini cites nike.com (70) and adidas.com (55) most often, showing a balance between brand and retailer sources.
  • AI Overviews cites nike.com (30) and runrepeat.com (28) more evenly, but has lower absolute citation counts overall.

Overall, we see more content sites, media, as well as community on AI Mode (runrepeat.com, reddit, runnersworld), while Gemini seems to be prioritizing “official” brand pages (nike.com, adidas.com). On the other hand, AI Overviews cite a mix of brands, retailers (amazon, footlocker), and media (runrepeat). In total, AI Mode was citing the highest number of URLs / domains.

Expanding AI search monitoring to six platforms isn’t just about covering more ground – it marks a big change from simply reacting to actively improving AI search results.
